- xAI Makes Grok AI Accessible to Everyone for Free
- The Grok button is introduced, an image-generative feature capable of replicating a stunning user profile-based photo on X.
- Grok AI can now analyze images and medical scans with greater accuracy and provide in-depth insights into the real-time trends.
Grok is an AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s company, xAI, aimed at building artificial intelligence to accelerate human scientific discovery. The version of Grok was first launched in November 2023, initially available for X premium subscribers only, until December 2024, when the company announced accessibility to all users, with plans to release a stand-alone platform in the near future.
“Grok is now free for everyone. Our AI assistant is faster, sharper, and includes all new-image generation. Available for free on X today,” xAI announced on X.
Elon Musk confirmed the broader accessibility of Grok AI by every X user, describing the chatbots ability to respond to prompts with greater accuracy, including the ability to analyze images and medical scans.
“Try Grok for answering any question, creating an image, & analyzing any images, even medical scans! It’s by far the best at answers requiring the latest information, due to integration with X. You’ll be surprised at how much Grok can do, & it only gets better from here!” Elon Musk stated on X.
Grok AI combines real-time insights from X and web search to serve users with accurate information. Grok is able to provide the latest trends, including breaking news, accompanied with authentic sources for verification.
Grok’s advanced image generator, powered by the Flux model, is a blockbuster, designing photorealistic images and memes, enabling content creators to broaden their capabilities in seconds. The new “draw me” feature allows X users to generate a replicate of their profile photos in just a click-away.
Additionally, xAI is introducing the Grok button, a content analysis feature that will appear on users timelines to help them “discover relevant context, understand real-time events, and dive deeper into trending discussions.”
As part of the API accessibility advancement, two new models are being added: grok-2-1212 and grok-2-vision-1212, aimed at improving “accuracy, instruction-following, and multi-lingual capabilities and offer a great option for developers looking for a highly-steerable and intelligent model.”
Making Grok AI accessible to everyone could be a counter-strategy aimed at attracting more users to Grok and X platforms, making AI capabilities free for all, and challenging the big players, including Open AI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, Perplexity, an AI search engine that gained traction since it’s launch, and Microsoft Bing’s Copilot. Since almost all these models offer their advanced capabilities in the premium version, Grok AI could change the narrative.
