  • X Corp. CEO Linda Yaccarino announced the launch of X Money in 2025, bridging the future integrated digital ecosystem closer.
  • With the X TV better version launched in 2024, possible integration in 2025 could include the X Mail service as well.

X Money is scheduled to launch in 2025 as part of the X Corp’s broader strategy to seamlessly integrate more viable features within the X platform (formerly Twitter). This after an array of features and integrations were made publicly available in the previous year.

The announcement was made by Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X Corp., on New Year’s Eve 2024. X Money aims to make X an ‘everything app’ centralising media, finance, AI technology, and communication on a single platform, which is part of Elon Musk’s goal in making X distinctive from other social media platforms.

“In 2024, X changed the world. Now, YOU are the media! 2025 X will connect you in ways never thought possible. X TV, X Money, Grok and more. Buckle up. Happy New Year!” Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X Corp., announced on X on the new year’s eve.

The introduction of X Money is intended to strengthen X’s position as a go-to platform, aiming to simplify user needs. Lots of positive and exciting responses appeared in the comment section, indicating high interest and potential impact on user engagement with the platform.

One user going by the name Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k) said, “I approve of anything that potentially gives me more money by using this app a lot.”

Another user, @AmericaninBKK, while expressing his disappointment with Paypal, said, “X money sounds good, but Elon’s previous invention, “Paypal,” turned into a disaster when they began locking accounts for political reasons. And the fees were super high. The terms and conditions would need to be rock solid to prevent this from ever happening again. People are sick and tired of being “debanked.” I would not touch Paypal again with a ten-foot pole.”

While a couple of X users were super happy with the announcement, others felt disinterested and choked with a bunch of integrations and features that are on the lineup.

X is not the first social media platform to have launched the payment services: WeChat, developed by Tencent, also offers a wide array of services, making it a model for the future of integrated digital ecosystems. WeChat Pay services have become part of daily life in China, offering both online and offline transactions.

WeChat Pay functions as a digital wallet, offering multiple payment methods, including Quick Payment, QR Code Payment, Mini Program Payment, Official Account Payment, In-App Payment, and Web Payment, enabling peer-to-pear transfers to in-store purchases.

In 2024, X launched AI-powered search aimed to improve search capability on a centralized platform. Grok 2.0, an update to the AI chatbot Grok with the ability to generate photorelaistic, creative, and artistic images, was made freely available for X users. X TV App, a better version, was also launched, expanding X’s reach to television viewers. The official introduction is expected in 2025.

Elon Musk also confirmed the development of X Mail services in 2024, with the specific launch date remaining undisclosed. Aimed at challenging Gmail’s dominance, X Mail is envisioned to make X more of an “everything app” by combining social media with email functionality.
