The government has announced phase two of the national job recruitment program targeting skills within the construction industry. The job opportunities target at least 10,000 prospects, both skilled and unskilled, for the construction sector in the Middle East countries, where most Kenyans have been able to secure job opportunities, according to the government.
“The construction sector in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is seeking 10,000+ skilled and unskilled Kenyans to join its workforce.” Alfred Mutu, CS for Social Protection and Labour, announced on X (formerly Twitter).
Qualified applicants will be expected to fill open positions within six categories, including steel fixing, masonry, scaffolding, carpentry, water proofing, and general works.
The salary (tax-free) is between Ksh. 33,000 and Ksh. 60,000, with free accommodation, transport, food, and medical care.
The recruitment is set to begin on December 18, 2024, to December 24th from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. On December 18, 2024, the first recruitment drive will take place at the Kabete National Polytechnic, wrapping it up the following day.
On December 20, 2024, the recruitment drive will kick off at the Nyeri National Polytechnic, where hundreds of prospects are expected to turn, running all the way to Saturday, December 21, 2024.
The final recruitment will take place at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic from December 23 to 24, 2024, running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Candidates are required to carry certificates and any relevant documentation appropriate clothing for practical assessments. The government is willing to facilitate passport issuance for selected candidates.
Successful candidates are to be served with immediate offer letters, a three-day medical assessment, and processing upon which they’d be issued visas. The government, through the ministry of social protection and labor, upon visa issuance.
“Successful candidates will receive on-the-spot offer letters. After a three-day medical and processing period, successful applicants will be issued visas. Travel arrangements will be completed within days after visa issuance.”
Successful candidates will be required to cough up an undisclosed amount of processing fee, which Mutua said he negotiated to affordable costs. Candidates are also expected to cater for their tickets. medical, and minor processing fees.
