It’s been a month plus of sombre mood and pain to the families of the three men who were abducted by people believed to be police officers in Kitengela and Mlolongo, along the Mombasa Road highway.
Jamil Longton and his brother, Aslam Longton, alongside Free Kenya Movement leader, Bob Njagi, were abducted on August 19th, 2024. The two brothers were handpicked in Kitengela and later in Mlolongo.
Fortunately, families and friends can now feel a sigh of relief after the trio made it back alive, though a little bit traumatized by their experience in the captors hands.
The two, Jamil Longton and his brother, were found dumped by their captors in Gachie, Kimabu County, in the early Friday morning. Bob Njagi, the Free Kenya Movement coordinator, who was reportedly dumbed in Thogoto at around 1 am, managed to get his way to Tigoni police station for assistance.
Bob Njagi confirmed and appreciated Kenyans for having stood with him on a message that was shared by the LSK President, Faith Adhiambo.
“To family, friends, and every Kenyan that has continued to pray for me, I wish to confirm that I am well and with my family. It is now time to quiet the noise, be grateful for life, and for everyone to reflect on why Kenya matters,” Bob Njagi said.
The current IG, Douglas Karanja, who was just sworn into the office yesterday, stated that they don’t have the Kitengela abductees, but his office had lodged an active investigation into the matter.
“You are aware that I have just taken over the office, but what I have gotten from our officers is that we don’t have the Kitengela three with us. I know a report was made, and we have got an active investigation,” he said.
The DCI boss, Amin Mohamed, who also spoke along the IG, confirmed that they don’t have the three and any form of abduction is not supported by his office.
The three were kidnapped by individuals who appeared to be police officers, an ongoing practice that has long been tolerated in Kenya. The three were linked to the Gen Z-led anti-government protests, particularly in Kitengela, Kajiado County, a hot potato issue that has left the DIG, Gilbert Masengeli, in an endless stalemate with the court.
