President Ruto, who traveled to Rwanda yesterday for Kagame’s fourth-term inauguration ceremony, has returned to the country with another leafy bunch of promises and a commission on the government’s developmental projects.
The president is currently on a three-day tour of Gusii Land. On his first day, he commissioned the Nyang’eni village electrification project in Nyaribare Chache sub-county, where he also lauded the government’s efforts to end youth unemployment in the country by creating more job opportunities.
In the company of Kisii Governor, Deputy President Gachagua, and other local leaders, Ruto also urged elders to sit at one table and help in building a united country.
This marks his first visit to the region since the end of the protests and the swearing in of the broad-based government cabinet secretaries. He initially made a developmental tour to the coastal region and Mount Kenya regions, where he laid the foundations and commissioned other projects.
While in the region today, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a tuition block at Kenyerere Primary School in Kitutu, Masaba, and a dormitory at Kiabonyoru High School in North Mugirango Constituencies.
In addition to his developmental tour in the two counties, the president pledged the construction of 44 new laboratories and dormitories and 183 classroom facilities in 68 schools. He also promised to establish the first university in Kiabonyoru, Nyamira County.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who also accompanied the president in the region, also urged the Gusii leaders and the community to unite and support the government’s aim to transform the livelihoods of Kenyans.
