President Ruto Makes Fresh Appointments, amid the Growing Skepticism

  • Mr. Mwangi wa Iria and Hon. Peter Kenneth are among the recent appointees by President Ruto.
  • Prof. Adams Oloo Appointed to the President’s Council of Economic Advisors as a member and advisor.
  • Mr. Noor Gabow was appointed Consular-General to the Consulate of Kenya in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

President Ruto has made more appointments to the senior ranks of the executive, with the latest ones made to the Central Bank of Kenya, the executive offices of the president, and within the state corporations. More politicians and advisors have edded to the list of the latest appointments, despite the assurance of cutting his advisors by 15%.

“It is notified that His Excellency the President has effected additional appointments to the senior ranks of the Executive. These appointments include roles at the Central Bank of Kneya, the Executive Office of the President, and other key positions within the top government organs of our state corporations/ agencies.”

“The appointments within the Executive Office of the President seek to augment the complement of personnel supporting the Head of State and Government in fulfilling the profound mandate vested in the nation’s foremost office.”

Mr. Geral Nyaoma Arita is appointed to the position of Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. Additional appointments to the executive office of the president to serve as advisors & member president’s council of economic advisors: Prof. Adams Oloo, as strategy & communication advisor; Dr. Silvester Okumu Kasuku, as the governance advisor; Maj. (Rtd) Ali Mahat Somane, as the security affairs office of the national security advisor; and Mr. Joe Owaka Ager, secretary, governance.

Additionally, the President appointed the former Deputy Inspector General of the Police as the Consul-General to the Consulate of Kenya in Port-au-Prince, Republic of Haiti. Former Governor of Murang’a, Mr. Mwangi wa Iria, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.

Further, the President appointed the Nairobi City County gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Peter Kenneth, to serve as the Chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Counci.

Mr. Bruno Oguda Obodha is poised to be the Managing Director of the East African Portland Cemnet Company PLC (EAPCC) following his appointment. The president also appointed CPA Douglas Murei Kaibos as the Chief Executive Officer of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency. 

These appontments come amid the growing trust deficit Kenyans have in President William Ruto, who also appears to be in panic mode following the dramatic impeachment of the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.
