The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has begun the ‘Northern Arrows’ ground operation against the Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army posted a video on the X page of it’s 98th division preparing to launch the raid, targeting their military infrastructure as well.
The operatin began following a decision made and an approval by all the political wings. The Israeli army says it has obtained sufficient intelligence, and the army will be targeting villages close to the border, which are deemed a threat to the Northern Israeli communities.
“In accordance with the decision of the political echelon, a few hours ago, the IDF began limited, localized, and targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. These targets are located in villages close to the border and pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel,” the IDF stated on X.
The IDF said the ground forces will be supported by the “Israeli Air Force and IDF artillery precise strikes on millitary targets in the area.”
The operation is set to continue simultaneously, in parallel with the ongoing combat in Gaza and other military targte zones.
“These operations were approved and carried out in accordance with the decision of the political echelon. Operation “Nothern Arrows” will continue according to the situational assessment and in parallel to combat in Gaza and other arenas,” the IDF added.
The IDF spokesperson, Gen. Daniel Agari, in his early briefing today described how Hezbollah had prepared to launch another assault on Israeli homes and communities, a move motivated by the October 7th Hamas invasion.
“Hezbollah had prepared to use those villages—as staging grounds for an October 7-style invasion into Israeli homes. Hezbollah planned to invade Israel, attack Israeli communities, and massacre innocent men, women, and children,” the IDF spokesperson said.
The operation comes just days after the demise of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an air raid strike alongside other key officials in Beirut.
