The #NaneNaneMarch-dubbed protests have thrown a chill on government agencies amid fears that the planned demonstrations scheduled to happen tomorrow could go out of hand. President Ruto, who’s on his three-day tour to Central Kenya, also asked the youth to retreat from dreadful protests that could result in the loss of lives.

The planned demo’s could go unperturbed even in the wake of rising cohesiveness from both the opposing and government wings. The government has again ignored the factors and the wheels behind the previous protest, as claimed by a section of youth who participated. They claim that the president has given them a deaf ear amid calls to fully implement their demands.

As seen in the previous demonstrations, the fear of goon infiltration has clouded the police concern. However, a number of bodaboda operators were spotted by the concerned citizens around Kabete area and Lang’ata police—a matter that has raised eyebrows as to whether there are planned disruptions or if the police have a hand in it.

The Acting Police Inspector General, Mr.Gilbert  Masengeli has raised the same concern that goons could infiltrate the crowd tomorrow to perpetrate hooliganism. He has however assured the protesters that adequate security personnel have been deployed across the country to quell such and ensure peaceful demonstrations take their course.

Additionally, Mr. Masengeli urged the protesters to trespass the protected areas, such as the airports, particularly on the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and state house or lodges. He asserted such actions contravene the “Kenya Civil Aviation Act and the Protected Areas Act.

In other news related to the protests, the Governor of Kajiado, Joseph Ole Lenku, has banned the planned demonstrations in his county.

The governor was addressing the security meeting at Kitengela town when he reiterated that they can’t allow protests in Kajiado town. While calling for peace, the county boss mandated the county commissioners and his counterparts to take charge of the security situation in the county.

A section of Orange Democratic Movement MCAs in Nairobi County went on the media today to implore the youth to call off the “Nane Nane.” The opposition has maintained that they saved Ruto’s government from collapsing. They joined the government to form what’s called a “broad-based government,” which the president claimed represented the entire country.
