Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection greeting job seekers during the Qatari Job fair at KICC

The government through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has updated career prospects regarding the ongoing Qatari job fair in Nairob and it’s Surroundings. The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry stated on his X handle gave a direction on the last of the activity set to be culminated on Suanday.

The event that began yesterday saw a recorded number of youths thronging the KICC and Kabete National Polytechnic job fair centers to grab the opportunities they are familiar and have qualified for.

The CS for Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Mutua stated that as a result of the ovehwelming turnout, most of the positions had been filled up, especially the hospitality sector.

“Due to the large turnout of Kenyans for interviews, many positions have already been filled. We appreciate your patience and your efforts to take advantage for this opportunity,” CS Mutua stated.

“All positions in the hospitality sector have been filled,” he added.

Additionally, he directed that the rest of the reamining interviews shall be taking place at the Kabete National Polytenic, with only those seeking to fill the position of Nursing being interviewed at the KICC on the final day of Sunday.

“Interviw for the majority of positions will now be conducted ONLY at KABETE NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC on Sunay, October 27, 2024, starting at 8:00 am. ONLY nurses will be interviewed at KICC,” he stated.

Under the Hospitality & Service Industry category, the interview for Nurses will take place at KICC as initially stated, those seeking the driving position (Light Vehicles) to head to Kabete National Polytechnic.

All Construction & Technical industry roles interview session wil take place at Kabete National Polytechnic. These includes machine operators, Rigger Signalmen, Construction helpers, cleaners, elctricians, plumbers, masons, tile layers, steel fixers,painters, welders, scaffolders, and Duct Men.

Some of the job seekers who had earlier presented themselves for the spots decried frustrations emanating from the strict requirements by the agency. It was, however, reported that the agency was not only seeking to employ Kenyans to work in Qatar but was in contact with other countries as well.
