For the second time, Kimilili Member of Parliament, Hon. Didmus Barasa, has confirmed the number of legislatures in support of the motion to impeach the deputy president stands at 280.
The impeachment motion is expected to be tabled in parliament in the coming days. The DP has been accused of propagating tribalism due to his strong advocation for the Mt. Kenya community.
The embattled DP’s close associates are also facing charges on protest financing and incitement, money laundering, and conspiring to commit felony.
The Kimilili legislature has been charged with the task of tabling the impeachment motion, according to the Capital FM. However, the day hasn’t been made official yet.
At least one-third of the house representatives are required to sign the petition for the removal of the deputy president. Didmus Barasa reported that there are now 280 petitioners, up from 242.
