The US has reminded its citizens in Kenya to remain cautious while traveling in Nairobi and other parts of the country.
US citizens, including other foreigners and tourists, have been advised to exercise caution in the areas they frequent to avoid possible and heightened targets by terrorists.
In a communication through the Nairobi-based US Embassy, terrorist groups could target hotels, malls, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, schools, police stations, places of worship, and other places frequented by tourists.
The attacks have also been linked to the anniversaries, which likened to the prior attacks such as the September 11th, September 21st Westgate Mall attack, and the October 7th Israeli attack by Hamas forces.
“While attacks can occur any time, concerns are heightened in proximity to anniversaries of prior terrorist attacks, such as September 11th, the September 21st Westgate Mall attack, and the October 7th Hamas atttack against Israel,” US Embassy Kenya.
Those deemed unsusceptible have been advised to stay alert in locations they frequent, review their personal security plans, monitor local media for updates, avoid crowds and protest areas, and maintain a low profile.
